Meadows 8 1/2" Hercules Combination Edger

Meadows Mills, Inc. is proud to introduce our new line of combination edgers.  We have combined the expertise of Meadows Mills, Inc., with 101 years of experience, with the expertise of Miner Edger, with 79 years of experience, to build a line of revolutionary new machines.  Our 6" Spartan, 7" Trojan, and 8 1/2" Hercules offer rugged construction with a reasonable price.  Our 6", 7", and 8 1/2" edgers are available in 36", 42", and 48" widths.  The chart below provides a quick reference of the features on each of our combination edgers.  If you have further questions or wish to inquire about prices please contact Bob, Brian, or Robert at 1-800-626-2282 or 336-838-2282.

Frame Construction:
  • Frame constructed from stacked 8" x 18.75 lb./ft. channel.
  • Side Plates are precision laser cut from 1/2" sheet
  • Edger hood is totally enclosed and operator is protected by a full bay of 1/2" thick x 2" wide anti-kickback fingers
  • Center section stands on 4 legs of 3" x 4" x 1/4" rectangular tubing with 1/2" plates for lagging or welding machine to floor
  • Standard frame length is 20' with infeed and outfeed table

Mandrel:
  • 2 15/16" diameter high carbon turned, ground and  polished steel with two 1/2" keys
  • Two 2 15/16" four-bolt flange bearings on side plates
  • One 2 3/16" pillow block bearing on outboard bearing

  • One 2 15/16" pillow block bearing on outboard bearing

 

Feed Rolls and Press Rolls:
  • Two 3" diameter machine-cut infeed and two 3" diameter machine-cut outfeed bottom rolls connected by a roller chain drive
  • Feed rolls mounted with 1 11/16" four-bolt flange bearings
  • Hydraulic feed with variable control
  • Two 5" diameter (Schedule 40 pipe with 1/4" wall) overhead press rolls with 1 7/16" shafts
  • Press roll mounted with 1 7/16" bearing insert with locking collar
  • Standard Hydraulic press roll lift with foot-pedal control or push button
  • Optional automatic press roll lift with photoelectric eyes
  • Complete set of anti-kickback fingers with release handle, 48" edgers are standard with two release handles

  • 20" carbide saws, 8 gauge with 18 teeth, 0.245" kerf
  • Saws have 3 1/4" eye with 9/16" pin holes on a 4" circle
  • Rim speed of saw, 10,320 ft./min.

  • 22" inserted tooth F pattern saw, 8 gauge with 18 teeth, 9/32" kerf
  • 22" carbide saws, 7 gauge with 20 teeth, 0.260" kerf
  • Saws have 3 1/4" eye with 9/16" pin holes on a 4" circle
  • Rim speed of saw, 11,350 ft./min.
Saws:
  • 24" inserted tooth F pattern saw, 8 gauge with 20 teeth, 9/32" kerf
  • 24" carbide saws, 7 gauge with 20 teeth, 0.280" kerf
  • Saws have 3 1/4" eye with 9/16" pin holes on a 4" circle
  • Rim speed of saw, 10,405 ft./min.
